“HO HO HO! Merry Christmas!

Santa Claus here, I just thought I would take some time out of my busy toy making schedule and say how much of a delight it has been talking to all the wonderful boys and girls who have called me up. We have been singing Christmas carols, making sure they leave out cookies and milk (as I do get rather hungry flying around the world, a lot of jet-lag you see), oh and don’t forget the carrots for the reindeer (helps them see in the dark, you know), and they have been telling me all about the lovely decorations they have put up this year.

We have been using some Christmas Magic as well. The children and Captain Starlight at QLD’s Mater Hospital have been very nice, passing me some cookies and vegemite through the computer (we don’t get much vegemite up here in the North Pole) from the Starlight Express Room. I have also given away one of my secrets and told how I make the reindeer fly. Well it is not as complicated as one might think. As you know reindeer eat carrots, and in the North Pole it is very cold so we can’t grow carrots like you do in Australia. So we have to plant them in our big marshmallow garden, so they are very sweet carrots, then we sprinkle them with some Christmas Magic and that’s what makes them fly.

Remember to be good little boys and girls.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Santa.”

Virtual Santa renews the Christmas spirit of a young QLD patient in the Mater

“Captain Sunshine had an amazing day doing virtual santa, lots of beautiful kids and beautiful interactions, even from older kids.

Santa was talking to one of Starlight’s regulars (Maddie) though the ‘Virtual Santa’ Skype system that the Captains and the Mater’s IT department have set up (who knew Santa could skype?!) when Captain Sunshine heard whispers of ‘I didn’t think Santa was real?’ coming from Joseph, the next boy in line. As Maddie kept talking with Santa, Captain heard whispers of ‘Oh.. well maybe he is…’. When it came to his turn, Joseph’s face lit up, and after telling Santa what he wanted for Christmas and all about his Christmas tree at home, you could tell his belief had been renewed!

Thanks Santa!”
