Poor Man’s Dance is a new and emerging experimental dance company. We aim to create innovative work of a theatrical, humorous and surrealist nature.
Ruth Pinkney is the choreographer and the company is managed by Rosie Dowen.
Last January the 28th they performed at SEVEN: Springboard at SEVEN arts centre, Leeds. This is a choreographic platform for new and emerging artists. Performing alongside emerging choreographers Grace Bonnet Productions and SEVEN’s critically acclaimed resident company Slanjayvah Danza.
Ruth plans to apply for funding, employ some new dancers and either carry on working on Tableaux Vivant or start a new project.
A quick description of Tableaux Vivant – a piece originally based on the idea of Victorian Freak Shows, but then became an exploration of the movement of the hand, group work and spatial patterns.
